Who's Who: Rocky Marciano

After sleepless nights from worrying about the Keller family in the Hawaii House, Jonathan says his nephew looks like he went a few round with this world heavyweight champion (The House where Nobody Lived; 116).

Rocky Marciano (1923-1969) was an American professional boxer and the World Heavyweight Champion from September 23, 1952, to April 27, 1956. He was the only champion to hold the heavyweight title and go untied and undefeated throughout his entire career.

Growing up in his native Massachusetts, Marciano worked out on homemade weightlifting equipment and, later his life, was also a client of Charles Atlas.  Hey - what are the odds?!

Marciano defended his title six times and has been ranked by many boxing historians as one of the best heavyweight boxers of all time. Marciano was also the inspiration for the name, iconography, and fighting style of the title character Rocky Balboa from Sylvester Stallone's Rocky movie series.
